Budgets have been overhauled to bring the club in line with Championship income, especially after the impact of the pandemic and more than a season playing behind closed doors. It has been a busy few months off the pitch too as Stoke come to the end of a particularly challenging three-year Financial Fair Play cycle. Neil left Sunderland to head to the bet365 Stadium and take on a long-term challenge early this season, hoping that improved performances and results - and a stronger sense of a team's identity - since January are giving an indication of how he would like to shape the club.
